TNMSA strives to provide support to the mining industry to improve the safety and health standards in the mining industry
To keep the Mining fraternity and Industry in high position among public and other industries and aiming to
Improve safe and healthy working environment by conducting inspections/ audits to prevent accidents from mining industry and for continual improvement.
Provide technical, educational and other types of support to mine management, mine workers to improve safety.
Work co-operatively with Directorate of Mines Safety, mine management and mine workers to improve safety and healthy environment in all mine.
Work towards achieving zero accident and reduce injuries by creating continuous awareness through Mines Safety Week celebrations.
TNMSA is functioning under the aegis of Dy.Director General of Mines Safety, Southern Zone and Director of Mines Safety, Chennai Region.
TNMSA is taking lead in conducting Mines Safety Observance Week every year to create awareness among management and mine employees through various activities. Executive committee of TNMSA is formed every year in the Annual General Body Meeting and the committee will conduct various activities under the guidance of DMS, the patron of the association. Mines located in Tamil Nadu is comes under this Association. These mines are categorized as ‘A’ category, ‘B’ category and ‘C’ category. Further, ‘A’ category is classified as ‘A’ category Non-conventional mines and ‘A’ category Conventional Mines. There are five zones in Tamil Nadu namely, Chennai, Neyveli, Tirunelveli, Salem & Trichy. TNMSA is taking part in conducting Zonal & State Level Function in one Zone and Zonal level function in other four zones. Mines located in each zone are inspected, evaluated by the inspection team formed from the other zone members. Trade tests are also being conducted for mine workers and winners are suitably rewarded to motivate them towards safety culture.
TNMSA is also organizing various training programmes / workshops for the benefit of Mining fraternity. For providing training to Mines Workers, fully equipped and functional Mines Group Vocational Training Institute are being managed at Tiruchirapalli and Salem under the aegis of DMS officials in Chennai. Both the MGVTIs are having fully equipped class room consists of advanced teaching aids. Various working models also available here to demonstrate the concepts to the participants to make them clear about the concept in full and detail. Basic Training & Refresher Training are being provided to the Mine Workers. Experienced Trainers are also sourced from various industries present all over the State for providing training.
